 | Drivers parking near AT&T Park in San Francisco have to feed their meter into the evening hours starting today, according to the city's
Municipal Transportation Agency.
Meters close to the ballpark at Third and King streets will remain operating until 10 p.m. from Mondays through Saturdays, SFMTA officials said.
The meters will also cost more on San Francisco Giants game days or during other events at the stadium.
Between 6-10 p.m. on non-event days, the meters will cost 25 cents per hour, but will increase up to $7 per hour on event days. The first event with the increased meter rates is the World Baseball Classic, scheduled from March 17-19 at AT&T Park.
The changes are meant to increase parking availability in the area. SFMTA officials say there will also be a reduction in congestion and
pollution caused by cars circling around to find a parking spot.
Special signs are posted in the area, which stretches as far north as Harrison Street, as far east as The Embarcadero, as far south as Mariposa
Street and as far west as Seventh Street.
