Registration opens for winter programs hosted by city of Dublin
New classes include art, dance, music and cooking

The city of Dublin's Parks and Community Services Department is now accepting registration for Winter programs.
New classes in art, dance, music, and cooking are all available this winter season to residents and non-residents. Those who are interested in enrolling can register by mail, online, or in person at the Shannon Community Center. The Shannon Community Center is located at 11600 Shannon Avenue.
In Fun Sculpting for Kids, kids will make cool sculptures of animals, creatures, or any other crazy stuff they want. Eric the Sculptor will teach his young students how to get the most out of the clay, as they use their natural creativity and newly learned skills to make some awesome works of art.
In the Introduction to Sculpting for Teens and Adults, students will make sculptures based on their family photos, reference photos, or directly from their imagination. The class is for artist who have little or no sculpting experience, but all levels are welcome.
Eric will teach his students how to use fundamental artistic principles of proportion, simplification, and careful observation to make great sculptures. In a fun-filled, no-pressure environment, Eric will guide his students to complete at least one sculpture that will be worth keeping.
Want to Dance like the dancers on the "Dancing with the Stars?" In International Latin & Ballroom Mix, students will learn the various Ballroom & Latin dances that are popular today. Dances include Jive Waltz, Samba, Foxtrot, Paso Doble, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, QuickStep, Cha Cha, and Tango. Students will experience the joy and health benefits of dancing. No partner required.
Beginning Ukulele will teach the basics of playing the ukulele. A growing number of people are discovering how the ukulele is an easy and fun instrument to play. Students will learn about chords, notes, rhythms, and music reading. The focus will be on learning chords and transitions through playing contemporary and traditional Hawaiian songs.
Beginning Acoustic Guitar is not a typical introductory class in guitar-playing. Students will practice their techniques through the music of various contemporary artists. As the class progresses, students will learn the fundamentals of reading music, notes below the 5th fret for all six strings, as well as popular and open chords. No prior musical experience is required.
Amazing Cupcakes will show students how to use candies, cookies, and frosting to make a cute Easter duck, a Valentines-themed cupcake, and more. The best part about this class is that students will go home with the cutest cupcakes. Sign up with a friend or a child for a fun-filled afternoon.
