Stanford grad and current Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck set the record for yards passing by a rookie when he threw for 123 in the first half of Sunday's game against the host Kansas City Chiefs.

Luck entered play 74 yards shy of Cam Newton's mark of 4,051 yards. He surpassed it during a drive that ended with a field goal, giving the Colts a 13-3 halftime lead.

Luck finished with 205 yards passing, which included the winning throw, a 7-yard scoring toss to Reggie Wayne in the fourth quarter

The Colts, 2-14 last year, clinched a playoff berth with the 20-13 victory over the Chiefs.

Indianapolis (10-5) became the second team to record as many as 10 wins after a 14-loss season.

It was Luck's seventh fourth-quarter comeback of the season, also a rookie record.

Luck finished his Stanford career with 82 passing touchdowns, 22 interceptions, completing 713 of 1,064 attempts for 9,430 yards.

Luck had 10,633 yards of total offense, and a 31-7 career record. He threw for over 300 yards passing nine times.
