San Jose man arrested as suspect in robbery of Old Navy store at Hacienda Crossings
Fleeing suspect stopped on I-580 near Castro Valley

A San Jose man suspected of thefts throughout Northern California was arrested earlier this week after allegedly robbing an Old Navy store in Dublin, police said Friday.

Officers responded around 7:30 p.m. Monday to a report of an armed robbery at the Old Navy in the Hacienda Crossings Shopping Center, police said.

A witness to the robbery gave police a description of the suspect's vehicle. Officers then spotted a car matching that description on westbound I-580 near Castro Valley, police said.

Police said officers then stopped the car and arrested the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Matthew C. Fagan of San Jose. Officers also recovered the money stolen from Old Navy from the vehicle.

According to police, Fagan is also a suspect in an attempted armed robbery in San Ramon that occurred about 30 minutes before the robbery at Old Navy. In addition, investigators believe he is responsible for recent robberies in other counties.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Dublin police Sgt. Yesenia Sanchez at (925) 833-6682.
