 | The East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors unanimously OK'd the new land use plan for the Pleasanton Ridge at a recent meeting after reviewing comments received at public meetings.
The plan will add 2,360 acres to the 4,172 acres of parkland currently open to the public, plus develop picnic areas, interpretive programs and campsites for backpackers.
The plan includes two new staging areas, Garms with 75 parking spaces and Tyler Ranch with up to 90 parking spaces; adds 20 parking spaces to the Foothill staging area and one new trailhead at the Devany Canyon entrance; and a system of trails that can support multiple uses.
The Park District will coordinate with Alameda County and the city of Pleasanton for roadway safety improvements and additional access options into the park should acquisition opportunities arise in the future.
Although the land use plan has been approved, there is no timeline for the improvements, which will depend on funding.
