Police have arrested a man in connection with a string of bank robberies across California and Texas, including the robbery of a U.S. Bank
inside a Safeway grocery store in Dublin earlier this month.
Raymond David Lopez, who has residences in Chicago and Arizona, was arrested for the June 12 robbery after initially being arrested by San
Leandro police on a separate offense Tuesday, police said.
Acting on a lead, Dublin detectives responded to the Hayward Hall of Justice on Wednesday, where Lopez was due for an arraignment on the other
charge, police said.
While Lopez was arraigned and released for the first offense, Dublin police detectives made contact with staff at U.S. Bank that worked the
day of the robbery.
The bank staff viewed Lopez in a line-up and the bank manager was able to positively identify him as the suspect, leading investigators to arrest him in connection with the robbery, police said.
Lopez was then transported to the Dublin police station where he allegedly admitted to committing the robbery, as well as seven other bank robberies in California and one in Texas, police said.
